Butch – A Rescue Black Lab – Project Underdog

Butch is a Rescue Black Lab who is available for adoption through Labs4Rescue and is fostered in Westbrook, CT.  He joined Project Underdog in April and began one on one training sessions with Jade of Polite Paws, LLC in Branford.   Oh how far he has come!

Butch is one of several puppies that ended up in a shelter in the South. The puppies made the trip to this area one by one and Butch is the last to find his forever home. Butch had the tendency to be timid and fearful with strangers. All of Jade’s work with Project Underdog has been focused on bringing him out of his shell and giving him confidence.

I first met Butch at a Labs4Rescue adoption event at Petco.  If any of you have ever been to an adoption event at a pet store, you know it can be very chaotic!  There could be a dozen dogs, and at least that many people eager to meet them.  Butch was very timid about people approaching him inappropriately, and only wanted to sit with his foster Mom.  After beginning his sessions with Jade, I saw so much improvement!  At the next event he would allow people to approach him, and even made a few friends.  We found he loves children, and other dogs!   All of his work with Jade was paying off.  Jade felt that he had made so much improvement that he was able to go to his forever home.   So we scheduled a photo session to feature Butch and his stunning good looks!  Here are some of the photos we captured:

Butch is looking for his forever home. He would love a home where someone is home a lot of the day, and he would really enjoy a canine brother or sister! If you know a family that would be a good fit for him, please share his story!
